One of the main problems I am having now is with the community edition of Train Simulator, more specifically, Microsoft Train Simulator.

When I click on the Open MSTS Editor I get "Cannot open the requested MSTS Editor. You need to have proper permissions to perform this operation." This error is only when I am in Windows 7 and not on Windows Vista or Windows 8.

I run TrainSimulatorCommunity2008.exe in compatibility mode. Any way to open the editior?

That is fine until you try to add your save file to the train simulator. For some reason I am unable to open an MSTS file that has not been opened by the programs.

I cant open my route file in train sim because I have the wrong windows version it says. So I download the mstsc application but I can't open my files

Update: I was able to finally open the MSTS files that I created in my Windows 7 Home Basic.

Open MSTS Windows 7 is currently not available for the Windows 7 Ultimate (or any other edition) .

MSTS editors and tools
Editors MSTS: Open MSTS is a new project, aimed to try improve some features of MSTS (MS Train Simulator). This project provides several features to work with MS Train Simulator and MSTS Files. This project is in a very early version so we are very sorry about any inconvenience that might appear. MSTS editor and tools are in a very early version of development so we are not sure how it will work in a near future. Anyways, here is the project description.

Open mstsc.exe from a command prompt, and click on start. You should get a box prompting you to install the program.
